A few months ago I saw an article about a series of Jersey Myths & Legends stamps that had been created by local artist Nick Parlett.

There were no images with the text but my imagination instantly started racing with ideas and from that moment my mind was set on completing my own photographic series.

I’d been wanting to do something with a local twist that was reflective of my style of creative portraiture and conceptual imagery and this ticked so many boxes.

There were stories of dragons, witches, fairies and more – and I saw it as an opportunity to indulge the nostalgic ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ watching little boy I used to be.

So here we are, finally able to release the first video of the story that we started with.

Big thanks to Jersey Arts Trust for supporting this project and for Jersey Arts Centre for accepting the final images to feature in the Jersey Myths & Legends exhibition which opens on Monday 10th April.

There’s lots of great work from lots of talented artists on show so be sure to head down and check it all out.

None of this would have been possible without some amazing teamwork and I’m indebted to Callum Thorne for putting this video together and to Eva Miere MUA, Anna Trigg, Wilde Thyme, Andreia Magalhães, Peter Boleat, Josh Richardson, The White Shell Co., Aran Clark, Patrick Reed, Jorja Clark and Lauren Clark for helping me to bring this project to life.

Keep your eyes peeled for the release of all the images from this shoot and for future Jersey myths and legends stories…
