Day 81 Sea Swimming.

#42 of the blog.

Absolute belter of a day here in sunny old Jersey.

I was in two minds about St Aubin as I wanted to freshen up the photos, but there’s something about the camaraderie of the Bathing Beau and Bluebells that made me want to share the experience of a beautiful morning with them rather than going to a different location.

The weather was SO nice (added to the fact that I also feel a little guilty constantly photographing them each morning) that I thought I’d just take a couple of landscapes then put the camera away and be present for the whole experience and not be faffing about worrying about focus, or shutter speeds etc.

Having said that, I thought it looked so lovely that I may as well get a time-lapse from my phone so that’s what you’ll see just above…

As you can see we were able to walk out for a bit before we went for our dip.

The warmth from the sun made it so inviting and the sea was so calm and picture perfect that I almost felt bad for splashing around and creating any wash or extra ripples in it.

With the water at this level, Gracie wasn’t as far away as she sometimes is so I swam out to her and then onto the other two buoys a little further out, before heading back in for a chat with the others in which we pretty much all said that it was so nice we didn’t want to get out.

Myself and Jenny then got a coffee and a delicious donut from the nearby Fort View cafe - which I can highly recommend and will definitely be going back to visit again.

I went home did some work but with the sun still high in the sky and streaming in through the window, I decided a run (and a cheeky double dip) might have to be on the cards - especially as the weather is meant to turn this weekend.

So I packed a bag and ran the 4k from my house to Corbiere where, much to the bemusement of the elderly couple who were taking photos on the beach, I stripped off into my only other dry pair of swimming trunks (as they’re covered in cactus’, I call them my little pricks) and strode into the water for a refreshing cool down after sweating it out on my run.

After 10 or so minutes in the water it’s safe to say there was a little prick in little pricks worn by a…

… you get the gist I’m sure.

“Life is like a cactus,

prickly yet beautiful”
