Day 436 Sea Swimming.

A new dawn.

It’s been a while…

A lot has happened in the last 10 months or so… it’s only sitting down and writing this new blog entry that made me aware of how much time has passed since my last post.

Where to begin?

I spent a lot of last year ‘working on myself’ - if that sounds a little new age and hipster I apologise, but it’s true in many ways.

The pandemic and ‘C’ word gave plenty of us time for reflection and to be honest I didn’t always like what I saw in the mirror.

After those initial weeks of barbecuing and drinking beer like it was going out of fashion (or would disappear off the shelves like all the toilet roll), it was time to sort shit out… in fact, that process was really long overdue and had been needed since well before we had the excuse of a lockdown to reassess our lives.

So, a period of reprogramming/brain training was required to take place and with a lot of support from various sources and a little luck along the way I ended the year with a healthier mind and body, having been part of a successful English Channel relay crossing, completing 3 triathlons over various distances as well as a half marathon.

All good stuff and a world away from past habits.

Then footy came back on, the pubs reopened and those old habits started to resurface… not as extreme but still frustratingly… there.

Balance just isn’t a word I’m familiar with.

Anyway, into a new year, and both the drinking & smoking have been knocked on the head, I’m eating healthier, going to the gym 3 times a week, running (well I was until I felt shin splints coming along) and am still sea swimming everyday.

Whilst I’ll still be doing all of the above this year I’m planning on switching my focus a little… doing it all with the intention of developing myself further so that I can ultimately develop my photography - getting back into personal projects as well as continuing and improving the commercial, wedding and other areas that I shoot.

Change, as we all know, is one of life’s certainties and it’s time to embrace it and move into it… not shy away.

So whether these blog posts become a daily thing again is a little unknown, but I do plan on ‘getting back on the horse’ and shooting what I love.
