Sea Swimming Blog #23
Day 62 Sea Swimming.
#23 of the blog.
What. A. Beautiful. Day!
I woke up around 8:30am to get myself to La Rocque for 10am to meet the Dips and Sips - a lovely, bubbly group of ladies who had contacted me on Facebook and asked for some shots of their sea swimming antics.
We couldn’t have asked for a better day.
A gorgeous winters morning with blue skies, a couple of clouds, calm seas and very little wind - I took a few shots pre-swim then got ready to get in… board shorts, booties and camera at the ready.
The girls were up for a laugh and revelled in the near on perfect conditions, jokes, smiles and banter back and forth.
We were in for about 10 or so minutes and I got a few funny portraits as well as some wider angle group photos against the iconic pier of La Rocque harbour.
Daisy the dog joined us better late than never and stole the show - doggy paddling her way around like a pro.
To finish I got a few of the mermaid girl band as they exited the water then, after a quick chat and hot chocolate, headed to St Catherines where I hoped to meet up with my fellow English Channel relay swimmers.
Unfortunately I was late to the party so missed out on the swim and the portrait photos I’d agreed to take so I headed to St Aubin for a swim whilst the weather was so idilic.
Having found a space on the pier I quickly got changed and swam out to Wilson, then Gracie, then the rest of the buoys that were bobbing about.. ending up doing a fair old stint of a distance.
“You’re brave”… said a few people… “or stupid” I said once I got out.
But I wasn’t.
By midday on Sunday, I’d had the best start to any day I could remember for a long, long time…
Nothing better than a double dip!
