Sea Swimming Blog #59
Day 98 Sea Swimming.
#59 of the blog.
More of a dip than a swim today.
I popped down St Brelade with the underwater housing and had a go at shooting some waves just as the sun began to pop out from the behind the clouds.
With the weather on the change, I had two different moods according to what way I faced… bright and sunny to my right and dark and moody to my left.
Patience is a virtue with these guys… you know you’re going to get taken out when firing off shots so it’s a bit of a game of chicken - in which you know you’re going to get hit.
But, hold your nerve for long enough, and have a little bit of luck, then you might just get the shot you’re after.
It’s another aspect of the sea that I’ve found pretty addictive and I can imagine there’ll be many more hours spent trying to get that illusive perfect shot in golden hour or at sunrise/sunset.
Today was also World Whale Day and whilst I was unable to photograph one in the flesh (one day I hope) I thought I’d make a little tribute to our mammalian friends of the deep - the parents out there might recognise the words from one of my daughters favourite bedtime stories ‘The Snail & The Whale’… if you’ve not read it, get it, it’s a classic!

save the whales, save those snails”
