Day 102 Sea Swimming.

#63 of the blog.

I woke up early so headed down to St Aubin for sunrise, hoping for a similar spectacle to last night.

With little to no clouds in the sky it wasn’t quite to be but… there was a stillness and a calmness to be found in the dawn twilight.

To make the images of the sunrise a little more exciting I thought I'd take the housing in the water where the ripples and the reflections would add some foreground interest.

To mix things up from the norm, I went off the back of the Yacht Club rather than down the slip and spotted another solitary figure lapping up the goodness of an early morning dip.

I said hi then concentrated on taking a few shots of the sun rising in the sky before getting into conversation with Rachel who was impressed with my dedication to take the camera in the sea…

“You’re pretty dedicated yourself!” I replied.

Just as she was about to get out I thought I’d ask the cheeky question of whether I could get a couple of shots and thankfully she said yes.

And so it was, another random meeting with a fellow sea lover and another new connection made in this voyage of discovery… of the ocean, ourselves and beyond.

I was back home by just gone 7am then back at St Aubin for 9am where I’d agreed to meet the Bluebelles who kindly prepared a special ‘100’ cake for me to commemorate my milestone the other day.

Still a little cold from my break of day dip, I wasn’t sure if I was going to go back in, but with the sun now high in a bright blue sky and providing a lovely Spring warmth I thought “bugger it” and went for it (without the camera but with the budgie smugglers - the only dry costume I had) for a proper swim.

Cake, coffee and a chat in the sun, back home for 9:30am with another double dip done :)

“The surface of the Earth is the shore of the cosmic ocean.

From it we have learned most of what we know. Recently we have waded a little out to sea,

enough to dampen our toes or, at most, wet our ankles.

The water seems inviting.

The ocean calls”
