Day 94 Sea Swimming.

#55 of the blog.

What a difference a day makes.

With yesterday’s poopy pants mentality behind me I’d planned on meeting up with Jason and Will and swimming later on in the day at Havre des Pas.

The weather was a bit grey in the morning but predicted to be sunny in the afternoon which would be perfect for a few shots in the pool with the underwater housing and with two great inspirations.

Will had celebrated his 200th consecutive day of sea swimming the other day and today it was Jason’s turn… whilst I’m sure he’d rather I didn’t mention it, achieving the big 200 is no mean feat.

Though there are no doubt others around who have racked up more days over a long time (think the old school Polar Bear swimmers who swim all year round, year after year) they all started from zero at some point in time and it would be absolutely no surprise to me to fast forward 2, 5, 10 years and still see Jason ‘getting after it’ as he likes to say.

I mentioned back in my first blog that it was these boys who had got me into it in the first place… but to be even more specific it was Jason with whom I would first share little video messages after each daily swim… referencing someone who I regularly do (another of Jason’s recommendations!), the beast of nature that is David Goggins states that having an accountability mirror on which you write your failings, your hopes, dreams and aspirations, as well as your daily progress is the best way to push you forward into achieving the things you truly desire.

For the most vital of weeks at the beginning of all this, Jason was my accountability mirror.

Now, along with Will, Ben, Sam, Ollie, myself and Jason, the Salty Sea PUPS are accountability mirrors to each other.

From boy love to toy love… I love shooting in the water with my new bit of kit!

With a beautiful sunny backdrop and deep blue water, Will was keen to jump in - purely for his own kicks - but inadvertently also perfect for me to try and snap some cool images. I love the whole sequence so kept the lot :)

To commemorate the 200 club achievement I wanted one of the boys on the platform before experimenting with some shots underwater trying to capture the sunlight pouring through the ripples above as I sank down below the surface.

I’m going to have so much fun with this thing!

AND I love my prescription goggles - I’ve never been able to see so clearly in the water… big thanks again to Harry Fosters for donating them to me for my part in the Swim Smart English Channel relay swim.

As if that wasn’t enough, directly after finishing up with Jason and Will I then met up with Steve for a 10k run along the front where we were treated to a beautiful sunset.

A proper bromance all round.

If you want to go far, go together”
